Wakey wakey... Forecast calls for W (with a touch of S swell), 3-4 ft (ish), clean except the crazy 7 ft Hi tide around 8:30 am. But, even with the semi comatose crowd it should still be a fun day! Park at the DAY USE PARKING at the farthest NORTH END of San Elijo State Beach with your annual pass or $10/day. OR, Free parking at the side of HWY 101 but watch for the NO parking. Car pooling is a good thing. Look for my car at the parking lot near the ramp, Cream Ford Edge that says Bali on the rear windshield. We'll do the lookout first. If the spot at the bottom of the ramp isn't working then we'll walk to the LEFT toward the cement pole. If you're new to town, this spot has a mix personality and can handle LB, SB and Fish in the right condition. Here's the aerial surf and road map, click and zoom for more: http://photos2.meetu DIRECTIONS: Exit the 5 Freeway at Birmingham Drive and head WEST towards the beach till you come to a T. NOTE: Like any outdoor events, check your email before you go (or the night before) in case things change. Will Cancel if too choppy, too windy, too bad. Already sent my cell # to the YES-es. If you RSVP later and need it, let me know before 6 PM today (Thu). See you soon! P.S. We're inviting the OC surfers too so I divvy up the RSVPs. Have Fun, Be Safe! Know your own limitations. |

We can meet in the parking lot near the ramp. It is the farthest north you can park in the day lot. If you don't have a pass then park on the street and walk in. The surf should be relatively small but the winds should be off shore and generally a nice day. Afterward we can snack at Bull Taco. The best taco shop around. Bring your 3/2 and booties, or 4/3 if you are the sensitive type. The water is kind of chilly now. |

1 attended (est.) – No rating yet The plan is to leave the US on Saturday at 6 am to head down to a secret spot about 100 miles past Ensenada. There is a huge swell coming this weekend and rain is expected in San Diego. The weather in Ensenada should be sunny and cool. About 50 at night and mid 70's during the day. We would need to leave around 2pm on Sunday to make it to the border wait before dark. Be advised this is not a beginners trip so be warned. Wave hts can be significantly larger in Baja than in SD. If you plan on driving be advised a 4x4 is highly recommended. Some of the areas are only reachable on dirt roads for several miles. In the event of a small shower it will be difficult to cross in a 2wd. Also your vehicle needs to be in top condition. Even a battery failure could mean days of effort trying to replace. Crap you will need: PASSPORT: If you forget your passport you must plan on starting a new life in Mexico. Wetsuit: Bring a full suit and/or 2 suits if you don't like to put on a cold wet wetsuit. Booties: Most of the beaches are rocky. Booties are a must unless you have rhino feet. Surf boards: Bring 2 in case you break one or the conditions may vary greatly from break to break. Repair Kit: Both surf board and wet suit repair kits are recommended. Food: Bring enough food for 2 days. Most of the hotels have kitchens where food can be prepared. Water: enough water to drink and wash out utensils and wetsuits. 3 gallons for 2 days will do. Sleeping bag/pillow: just in case. You never know. Money: Bring small bills, less than 20s. Not many people in the area can change a 20. Also bring a lot of cash in case you get yourself in a bind. It is Mexico and money talks. Chairs: to sit on the beach and yell at people in the water. First aid kit: Medical facilities are very far away so a good bandaid and some gauze can come in handy. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, towel, etc.... If any one has any questions please call me on the cellular : 760/908-3206. Dan |

Let's go surf at the Bluffs, bring your backpack for lunch, surf essentials, Monster Drinks... and enjoy the day! This place usually has less crowd and plenty of peaks to choose from. It has sandbars and can actually handle a higher tide (although this weekend it will be "swingin" high,... way high). There are cobblestones between the sand and the water then sandy bottom. LB, SB, Fish mix just fine depending on condition. The waves are faster than San O but it's nothing like Trestles and won't slap you silly. With the predicted higher size there maybe a stronger current S --> N. The trail is about 0.3 mi if that, a tad longer but less incline than other trails. NOTE #1: Due to its nature, this is NOT a "learn to surf" session (incline access, various peaks and the possible size of wave). If unsure, you should pair and car pool with someone more experienced in case you miss us or get separated in the water. DIRECTIONS: Details don't fit in small pics so click and zoom for more: http://photos4.meetu NOTE #2: Like any outdoor events, check your email before you go (or the night before) in case things change. Will Cancel if too choppy, too windy, too bad. I'll send my cell # to the YES-es a day before. See you soon! ==================== Have Fun, Be Safe! Know your own limitations. |

Looks like midget waves are here once again, but let's surf anyway. See event details below, same ridiculous rules apply. Here's the plan: Let's go on a 1-2 hour surf session this Saturday at 9:00 am at Del Mar Shores. Here's the Directions: 1. Take I-5 North/South 180 Del Mar Shores Terrace, 8. Walk along the access way, all the way down the stairs. Check out the view, watch your step, don't fall off. Check out links below for more info about Del Mar Shores: http://www.sandiegos Here's the same ridiculous rules: 1. Bring your happy, fun self with your board, geared up, and ready to surf. If you're new to surfing or even if you're really experienced, it wouldn't hurt to brush up on some surfing etiquette, please check out this link: http://www.surfingha If the plan works for you, and the ridiculous rules didn't bother you. What are you waiting for? RSVP NOW! Life's too short, Let's go surf! |

----------------- Didn't we say gotta have a sense of humor ? Yep. Let's hope the kelps help and surf the itsy waves cuz we're Ok with that :-) Too hot to stay on land anyway. As exciting as it sounds, the forecast, live cam and the lifeguards themselves have been saying short of "come surf in Del Mar!... just not today". So the winner is: San Elijo Campgrounds! Pipes is only at the end of the parking ramp, Cardiff Reef 5-6 blocks south and Seaside/Tabletops spots nearby (if need be). Less parking hassles than Del Mar esp. this weekend and you can hang all day and surf your brains out. Like everywhere else surf wise is about 1-3ft, making it a great day at the beach but gotta have a sense of humor in the water! The surf is a mix of beach and reef break (for the big days), best on med tide (approx HT 10:12 AM, LT 4:15 PM). The offshore kelp and the bluffs help to clean it up and protect from the wind. Located about 5 minutes south of Encinitas in Cardiff by the Sea. It's an awesome place to spend a day at the beach hanging out with friends and surfing. The vibes: open and fun so let's keep it that way. NOTE#1: Although there's a surf school in the area, this is NOT a Surfing 101 session (incline access and a spread out area with various peaks). If unsure, you should pair and car pool with someone more experienced in case you miss us, get separated in the water or if we move to other spot. Park at the DAY USE PARKING at the NORTH END of San Elijo State Beach. Your annual pass will work or $10/day. Free parking at the side of HWY 101 but watch for the NO parking. Car pooling is a good thing. Look for my car at the parking lot near the 1st Bathroom: Cream Ford Edge. We'll do the lookout 7 AM and if all good we'll meet at the bottom of STAIRWAY #6 7:30 AM ish and start from here. Yup, work that butt! Details don't fit in small pics so click and zoom for more: Aerial surf spots and road map: Addt'l layout: A quick info: DIRECTIONS: Exit the 5 Freeway at Birmingham Drive and head WEST towards the beach till you come to a T. NOTE #2: Like any outdoor events, check your email before you go (or the night before) in case things change. Will Cancel if too choppy, too windy, too bad. I've sent my cell# to the YES-es already. If you RSVP between now and Fri 7 PM, email me if you need it. You can text me also, just don't go crazy sending a poem, K? See you soon! P.S. OC-ers can't resist to surf with you guys so I divvy up the space for RSVP :-) ==================== Have Fun, Be Safe! Know your own limitations. |

So...not much going on this weekend surfwise, probably about 2-3 ft. A little solitude, surrounded by 100 ft bluffs and the rugged coastline that may have looked like a hundred years ago! This spot is not always empty but it does give you plenty of room to spread. Surf here is fair (though it can be fickle too). It's a bit punchier than Old Man's but not anything like Lowers. If you bring multiple boards, there's a lookout on the trail to check out the surf. The trail is only 0.2 mile but carrying the board and stuff after a long session will work your Lowers :-) Surfboard straps help and reef shoes come handy (if you want to -- some rock bottom and sandy breaks) and you can also wear them on dirt paths. Flipflops don't work too well on declines. Really. Let's meet by the YELLOW GATE in the MIDDLE OF PARKING LOT or the Look out. I'll be there around 8:00 AM then head down to the beach at 8:30 AM (Low tide approx. 10:45 AM, this spot likes med-low/med-hi tide). If you come later, just follow the trail to the beach then walk south (left) to the next sand bluff. Look for a BLUE SUN SHELTER (I won't bring cell to the beach). Here's the trail & parking layout (CLICK TO ZOOM): And the sun shelter (minus the pup) Bring your backpack, lunch, Java Monster drink... to the beach. Or, you can take as little as possible then walk back up, sit under a big tree on the lot and have lunch (or take a nap), relax and repeat. Amenities maybe sparse but that's part of the charm. So let's pack up and surf! DIRECTIONS: NOTES: See you soon! ==================== Have Fun, Be Safe! Know your own limitations. |

Looks like the midget waves of summer have returned, but let's surf anyway since we're cool that way. We are going to a different spot this time. We're going to check out: Del Mar Shores. It's a pretty cool spot, not very popular, not very crowded, and plenty of free parking. See event details below, same rules apply. Here's the plan: Let's go on a 1-2 hour surf session this Saturday at 9:00 am at Del Mar Shores. Here's the Directions: 1. Take I-5 North/South 180 Del Mar Shores Terrace, 8.
